Aircel 3G - now in punjab



Aircel launched its 3G services in Punjab,the service will be available in 31 cities across the state initially. Aircel has now became the fourth service provider in Punjab to offer 3G services after BSNL, Reliance and Tata Docomo.

Aircel had launched its GSM services in Punjab in August last year and has a subscriber base of over 6 lakh in the state.During the launch Aircel CEO Gurdeep Singh said, "they are excited about 3G", as we see it as something that will begin to transform our lives in many ways.




The youth comprise over 50 per cent of the country's population and are among active internet users and also avid users of Facebook, YouTube and other social networking sites. The launch of 3G services on Aircel will address the high speed digital needs of the consumers. In Punjab we expect that 10-15 per cent of our total subscribers will shift to 3G platform.”Across India Aircel is expecting 30% of its subscribers to shift on to 3G platform in next three to four years.Currently Aircel has about 4 lakh 3G subscribers. To Avail the Aircel 3G services, subscriber needs to send SMS START 3G to 121.

Switching to 3G will not effect the voice and SMS tariff of the customer.

Now Aircel has completed its 3G roll out in 11 telecom circles out of the 13 where they have won license.
