How to deal with referrer SPAM

New blog authors often face referrer spam. The technique of referrer spam if quite simple. Spam sites send bogus requests to target's blog with their referrer which gets stored in target blog's access logs. When new authors check their stats and find that these sites are sending him traffic, s/he clicks on the spam links out of curiosity which results in more spam requests being send tomorrow. Referrer spam is very popular on blogs hosted at blogger because people have less control on their blog.

The best way to deal with this is to simply ignore these requests. If spam sites like domar.ru or tiny.cc show up on your blog stats, just ignore them, don't even think about clicking the links.

If you can't really ignore, you may consider moving your blog from blogspot to a self hosted wordpress blog where you'll more control and you will be easily able to block these sites with a simple .htaccess directive.
