Bharti airtel launched its 3G service in the North Karnataka towns of Hubballi, Dharwad and Belagavi today. These are the towns having the largest customer base of airtel mobile services in Karnataka. Airtel has already launched 3G in Bengaluru, Mysore, Mangalore, Manipal, Udupi, Shimoga, Davanagere & Tumkur. According to Airtel 30% of the customers in North Karnataka region is having GPRS connectivity. Besides this the region has the second largest number of 3G enabled handsets in Karnataka after the city of Bangalore.Apart from this 50% of retailers in North Karnataka are selling airtel GPRS packs.So this is a very apt region for the availability of 3G services.Speaking at the launch, Mr. Venkatesh V, CEO – Karnataka Circle, Mobile Services, Bharti airtel Ltd said, “The launch of our 3G services is the start of a new era, the beginning of a journey of mobile internet revolution in Karnataka.
