Symbian Anna aka Symbian PR 2.0 update

No comments:

Symbian and Nokia has made another rival for Android by creating an updated version of Symbian OS. Symbian has focused around three key objectives: delivering improved usability, enhancing enterprise functionality and improving developer productivity. They have done it very well this time by creating a 3 times faster browser, The new qwerty keypad touch user interface is improved and has a great look. Ovi suite and Ovi maps has been improved. Previously Nokia had promised around 50+ features and now revealed just a few features, where are the others ?.

There are other improvements to be found, though. The gallery application gets a usability update, for example, while Nokia’s Ovi maps gets a new search system and the ability to show public transportation lines.Full country maps can also be downloaded over Wi-Fi connections. Ovi Maps is now more socially connected, too, offering check-in support for Facebook, Twitter, and Fourquare. A new split-screen view will also be introduced.we are still waiting to see new features.

Stay connected and get all mobile updates.

The Spice mi301

No comments:

Pros

  • Responsive touch screen

  • Good build quality

Cons

  • Below averge camera

  • Memory card not hot swapable

Spice Mi310 is arguably the best Android phone for budget conscious people. It offers the latest Android 2.2 version and comes with a capacitive touchscreen, which is fairly responsive.

The build quality of the phone is decent, given the fact that its price is on the lower side among the Android mobiles. The phone is not heavy as the body is partly plastic and part metal. The metal battery cover is slightly difficult to open but will not get loose with prolonged usage.

The worst part of the Mi310 is its camera which has in fact been degraded from 5 mega pixel in the out going model to a 2 mega pixel one in this model. There is no flash either.

Rest of the features have not been compromised though and the overall the phone comes out to be a feature rich phone with A-GPS, Wifi, Wifi hotspot (connect five handsets to share your data connection), Bluetooth, 3G (HSPA 7.2 Mbps speed), 3.2 inch touchscreen, and track pad.

The phone comes with a charger, a leather pouch and an USB cable. The only thing missing is a memory card, but still the phone is worth the money.

It has a 600 MHz processor and the phone works fine when you open three four applications together but when you open more than four applications some lag will be encountered.

The track pad also works fine but is not of much use in a touchscreen device, that too with a responsive unit like this.

Being an Android device, the features of the Android are obviously there; you can setup your Gmail account once and every function like Gtalk, Android Market, and Youtube gets logged in automatically, your contacts with Gmail are also synced by itself.

You can download, as many games and apps you wish to from the Android Market. You can save these downloaded apps on the memory card.

Internal memory is 85 MB, which can be expanded up to 16 GB using a memory card. The battery claims to offer 310 hours of standby, but regular use with push email account and other usages you will get a decent one day of backup.

When you compare the Spice Mi310 with its competition, the phone stands out in its own league. Only Micromax Andro is cheaper than this handset but has a smaller 2.8 inch resistive touch screen (which is not as good as a capacitive one). The other option is Huawei Ideos, which also has a 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen. But the phone is pricier than Spice Mi310, and retails for around Rs 8,500.

Dell XCD28, which will offer you better quality but a smaller 2.8 inch screen and older Android 2.1 version is the real option at this price bracket, however you will have to compromise, so Spice still remains a good option.

Verdict and Price

The spice Mi310 has a perfect blend of price and feature. While it is not the best Android device for sure, but for Rs 7,400 it is certainly a value for money unit considering the build quality and features.

Is Android beating the iPhone?

No comments:

Android seems to be beating the iPhone hands down. Comparisons between Apple's iOS and Android, though, might reveal another story.

Android is destroying everyone, especially RIM and iPhone, Business Insider recently said, citing comScore's report that reported that Android's market share in the USA has risen by 7 percentage points to 33 per cent.

According to the report , iPhone should feel like its future is going for a toss.

It is argued that technology platform markets tend to crystallise around one big player, and that Android is that platform. This further creates a domino effect because buyers choose the platform that appears to have a better future, with more users.

The website also argued that many more handset makers would vouch for Android if it starts offering the software more actively to them.

Android's runaway success would appear to be the iPhone's loss, but the products cannot be compared.

Market observers just compare the sales figures of Android phones (from several handset makers) and iPhone devices, and declare that Android is winning hands down.

Apple has three extremely popular devices — iPod, iPad and iPhone, which run on the same platform. Even the Mac operating system is likely to have some iOS features soon, so the number of people opting for the Apple ecosystem is likely to grow substantially.

Comparisons between Apple's ecosystem and that of Android are legitimate and so far there is no saying which one is more promising.

iPHONE vs THE DROID

No comments:

The iPhone and the Droid are at the top of everyone’s list as two of the best-selling smart phones on the market. Given all the hype surrounding the phones, how does a consumer decide which to buy? Well, the best and the smartest way to decide is to learn about the unique features that each phone has to offer. To help consumers understand these features, the following article presents a detailed comparison between these two top phones.

Screen Features
The first noticeable difference between the iPhone and the Droid are their screen features. The iPhone 4 screen is a 640 x 960 resolution display. On the other hand, the Droid has a resolution of 480 x 854. The Droid does have a larger screen size of 4.3 inches, while the iPhone 4 screen size is 3.5 inches. Given that the iPhone 4 has higher resolution, movies and pictures on the iPhone 4 appear smoother than on the Droid. So, in terms of better viewing quality, users will have to go with the iPhone 4.

The Insides
In terms of processor speed, the Droid contains a 1 GHz processor. The iPhone 4 is believed to use the same processor as the iPad4. This suggests that the iPhone is using the 1 GHz chip as well. This assumption has been made because Apple has not disclosed the particulars of their processor. In addition, navigating from task to task on each device suggests that there are no real speed differences between the phones.

However, how they handle these tasks is a different story. The iPhone 4 uses background services, along with task completion and fast app switching to go from one task to another, like a contact center. This is Apple’s version of multitasking, which in reality is not true multitasking. The Droid, on the other hand, runs true multitasking, which means that apps can run simultaneously. The only drawback with Droid’s approach is that true multitasking will run down your battery life more quickly.

Apps
When it comes to apps, the iPhone has a much larger choice in their app store. Users can find anything from game apps to automating processes apps, which perform tasks for you. However, both phones have the standard apps that most users want. These are Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and a browser. For the Droid, the browser has made some nice improvements. However, because of its speed, the iPhone’s browser is still considered the best browser for smart phones. Still, there is no flash support in the iPhone 4.

Another app that users generally want is a GPS application. On the Droid, Google provides a free GPS app, which gives turn-by-turn voice directions. The iPhone 4 also has free GPS applications, but none of these apps’ GPS automating processes can compare with Droid’s free GPS application. However, there are some paid GPS apps that iPhone 4 users can download that are comparable with the free version used in the Droid.

Battery Life
When it comes to battery life, the iPhone 4 has the clear advantage. Users typically report being able to get up to eight hours of battery life from the phone each day during typical use. However, the Droid battery life typically clocks out that less than six hours. Unlike the iPhone, Droid users can remove and replace the battery.

Sound Quality
As for the sound quality during a phone call, both of the phones have noise cancellation technology. The iPhone 4 applies this with 2 microphones, while the Droid uses 4 microphones. Because of the extra microphone, the Droid offers better sound quality.

Scan barcodes on products then look up prices and reviews. You can also scan Data Matrix and QR Codes containing URLs, contact info, etc.
Also share your contacts, apps, and bookmarks via QR Code. This is why contacts permissions are needed.

The cool thing about scanning QR Codes is the wealth of information and many applicable uses in the tiny cryptic messages. QR Codes can store calendar events, contact information, email addresses, Geo location, phone numbers, SMS text messages, plain text, and URLs. AndroidTapp.com has recently added QR Codes to every Android App Review, so you can quickly download the app from the Android Market.

Conclusion:

Barcode Scanner Android App is very useful and convenient to tech and savvy shoppers.Barcode Scanner Android App is straight-forward, there is a Help section within the app if needed.
