Megaupload officially shutdown in US

Megaupload.com shutdown

Megaupload.com, one of the largest file sharing website, was official shutdown in US on Thursday and the company was accused of facilitating illegal downloads of music, films and other contents. Prosecutors have
accused the company to own more than $500 million to copyright holders for providing downloads and hosting pirated content on their servers. Reports say that two co-founders of Megaupload have been already arrested.
This happened right after Wikipedia, Craigslist and Reddit.com were blacked out to protest SOPA and PIPA. I think the shutdown is a reply to protestors that US government holds the ultimate power.

Access twitter on any airtel - no GPRS, 3G or Wi-Fi connection required

3 comments:
Airtel users can now use twitter on their mobile without subscribing to GPRS or and internet plan.
Just dial *515# and you'll shortly receive a menu to login to your twitter account.

* Service subscription free is Re.1/day.
* This service may not be available all over India.

Plus points of this service
  • Can be used on any mobile ranging from Nokia 1100 to the latest iPhone because not all phones have an internet browser but they can still make calls.
  • Can come in very handy when you're struck in a place with no internet connectivity ( Indian villages are a very good example of this, you can make calls but can't connect to GPRS/3G ).
  • Subscription fee if very reasonable.

Wikipedia is down - anti SOPA blackout

1 comment:
English Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org) is blacked out for a day to oppose SOPA.  Reddit has decided to do the same. The anti SOPA community is growing everyday. Lets hope these initiatives bring a huge change.

Seeking information but can't get it ? All information is still available if you can somehow remove the blackout overlay ( use Firebug?) or just settle with the cached version from Google.

Read more on Wikipedia's initiative.
