Send and receive fax online

1 comment:
There are a few online services that let you send and receive fax ( without installing a fax machine ) but I like these two because they are built around Google docs.

1. ginzafax transforms your google docs account into a virtual fax machine with document sending and receiving capabilities. All received documents are saved in your google doc account. It also offers email-to-fax which I personally like a lot. All these features are provided for a reasonable price but you may go for a free trial before paying anything.

2. Interfax is another internet-fax service intergrated with google docs. They don't provide a free trial and you will have to buy an initial credit of $10 to start using their services but this one provides an API so if you are a developer, you may go for it.
Both these websites cost on a per page basis so they are ideal for personal as well as official use.

BlueStacks App Player lets you run andoid apps on your PC. It is a program that runs on windows or tablet PC as an android emulator, running your favoirte apps in full screen.
Though you would miss the touch support, you can still get a good feel of app with mouse and keyboard. The free version software is in alpha stages of development but works good and is worth trying if you are an android fan like me.
It comes with 10 preloaded apps and offers space for 26 more apps. You can even sync between your PC and phone if you install BlueStacks cloud connect app.
The pro version, which is also in alpha stage, lets you run premium apps like Angry birds and install unlimited number of apps. bluestacks.com/download.html

Reduce traffic and save bandwidth on phones

No comments:
When your are subscribed to costly data plans where operators charge you for every single killobyte, you would often want to optimize your browser for less bandwidth usage without affecting your browsing experience.
There are a couple of tweaks and tips that you can try and see which one suits your needs.
1. Start using opera mini. Opera mini is one of the most used phone web browsers. You can use it with image quality set to low or completely disabled, the webpages are compressed upto 7O% so you save a lot of traffic. Make sure not to use opera mobile but opera mini.
2. Use caching: Phone browsers limit cache size because of limited space. Increase it or set it to maximum for faster browsing.
3. Disable images: If you are a reader like me, consider disabling images. Images aquire a huge percentage of page size.
4. Download instead of stream: Download images and videos instead of streaming online. Streaming generally involves greater bandwidth compared to downloading. Also, you get the file on disk so you can watch them later.
5. Avoid torrents: There are some torrent clients for handheld devices but you should avoid them. Instead of directly downloading torrents, use torrent fetching services like torrific.com''

Chrome remote desktop - a revolutionary chrome extension

1 comment:

Chrome remote desktop

Google recently launched this chrome extension that lets people control their friend's pc through chrome browser. It is very similar to teamviewer or other desktop sharing applications.

The exciting thing about this is that you don't have to leave your browser and use third party apps because with google chrome, this feature is provided right inside the browser. To connect to someone's computer, you will need an access key, these keys are one time usable only and all connections are fully secured. Other good aspect of this chrome extension is it's cross platform support so basically you can connect to anyone who has chrome browser. It's still in developmental phases and has issues like slow response .

Get this cool extension here.
