Tata Docomo 3G in 2G plan - 2012 HACK

Yet another loophole in Tata Docomo's systems that went unnoticed and can be easily exploited to obtain 3G speed even when you've subscribed to a 2G plan.

Follow the steps carefully:

  1. Recharge your mobile for the lowest 3G pack available. In my area, it is  the Rs.9 plan which provides 10MB of 3G usage. To find what is the lowest pack in your area, you may dial *141#  and select 3G internet.
  2. Once you're subscribed to the lowest 3G pack, connect the internet using the access point named TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET. If you don't have the settings, SMS INTERNET to 52270 and save the settings as default.
  3. Using the default browser of your phone, just load your homepage; for instance www.google.com. You will see the page loading in 3G speed since it is connected to 3G or H tower.
  4. Now the trick begins; With the internet connected, just dial *141# and select the 2G internet recharge packs. Select the most suited one for you. It ranges from Rs.5 (50Mb) to Rs 65 (2.5GB) or even above. Then your GPRS plan get changed, but still will be connected to 3G tower itself..!
  5. If you select Rs.5, then your gprs data remaining will be 50Mb. So, in total for 9+5= Rs.14, you get 50Mb 3G internet. Think if you recharge for Rs.65, then for 9+65= Rs.74, you will get 2.5Gb internet in 3G speed..!!
Note some of the precautions you should take:
  • Your account should have enough balance for the two recharges mentioned. For example, if you want 2.5Gb internet, you should have at least Rs.75 balance. If you want 50Mb, you should have a minimum balance of Rs.15.
  • If the connection gets cancelled due to any reasons, do not continue, since the tower might get exchanged.
  • Don't use this trick if you are travelling since the tower may get exchanged.

      hi friends..
      well 2G plan in 3G speed is really working here in Haryana, (don't know for other state) i used it since august 2012 till 15 dec 2012

      details:
      1) recharge Rs 5 3G plan thru *141# (gives 50 MB 3g data.... i rech it through DATACARD)

      2) then simply dial *141*1026# ... (gives 1 GB gprs data for 7 days)

      3) total amt= 5+26 = Rs. 31 (u shd have this much amt in ur mobile balance for recharge ... plus extra minimum rs. 1 balance)
      that's it, you got 1074 mb data which run on 3G speed (not on 2G speed)..
      I experimented it, and got upto 400 KByte per sec
      i.e. 10 mb file in just 25 sec

      other plans are
      rs 15 - 500 mb (3 days), dial *141*666#
      rs 35 - 2GB (7 days validity) dial *141*1020#
      rs 69 - 2GB (21 days) dial *141*1001#
      rs 89 - 3GB (28 days) dial *141*1089#

      these rech was not providing 3G speed in august/sept 2012. Now giving or not, DONT KNOW

    This trick is not working now, when we are in a 2G plan, oly 2G tower is getting detected, it was working fine previously. I contacted Docomo complaining 3G is not functioning they said that when a 2G plan, the 3G tower will not get detected it seems......

    it worked for me,becz when i was done with a recharge of 21(which is a 3g pack),imediatly i did a recharge of 95(which is a 2g pack) and den my account was creadited with 3gb of 3g :)
