The Android based phones, Xperia Arc and the Xperia Play are available in India for Rs 32,000 and Rs 35,000 respectively.

Sony Ericsson has officially launched two Android handsets, Xperia Arc and Xperia Play, in India.

Xperia Play, which is a combination of an Android 2.4 Gingerbread based Xperia phone and Sony's handheld gaming device 'PlayStation', will be available for around Rs 35,000.

The phone sports a four inch capacitive touch screen, full PSP game controls, five megapixel camera with an LED flash, a front facing camera for video chat and Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Besides it has a dedicated Adreno 205 graphics processing unit and a mighty 1 GB RAM.

Being a gaming phone, it has a collection of more than 60 games from the industry's biggest content providers including Sony Computer Entertainment, Gameloft, Electronic Arts and Glu Mobile. Popular games in this device include top franchises Assassins Creed, Need for Speed and The Sims.

The company has partnered with over 20 publishers to ensure a steady flow of new games.

Xperia Arc, also known as the X12, is based on Android's latest version, the Gingerbread 2.3. It features a custom built User Interface developed in house. The Xperia Arc features a 1 Ghz processor from Snapdragon including a dedicated Adreno 205 graphics engine for faster operations and a more vibrant display. The phone also features a 512MB of RAM and a 364 MB of ROM which can also be used for storage. The phone comes bundled with an 8GB microSD card and can manage up to 32 GB of external storage.

The biggest feature of Arc is its 4.2 inch touchscreen, which is armed with a scratch resistant surface to protect it for longer run. The display is powered by Sony's acclaimed mobile Bravia engine for smooth video playing experience.

The 8 mega pixel auto focus camera is the only phone in the category to feature a CMOS sensor. With the help of a CMOS sensor, the camera is able to capture images that are noise free and competitively sharper and brighter than the regular camera phones.

Xperia Arc also features touch focus, which allows the user to manually select which area to focus on while capturing an image. The user can also leave the phone on full auto mode or can select smile detection for that perfect shot.

The Xperia Arc is available in select stores in India and carried a price tag of Rs 32,000 but once it is officially announced it will be available across all stores at the same price.
